Can't believe I liked a post-apocalyptic book. The characters are really great, keep things moving really quickly, I think I read this one in 28 hours. While working two days in that 28 hours.

So is she evil now? Is Jackson going to overlook what she is and stay with her or leave? The last sentences left some what of a cliff hanger. Evie doesn't HAVE to be evil. Why does she think that this red witch has to take over? She helped those captured girls in Arthur's basement, but than killed Arthur... But he was and evil creep.
Ha! I loved that last convo with Death she had. Ugh this book has me thinking what will happen with Jackson! Plus she has to kill all the other arcanas. Maybe she'll find a way for them all to survive...the good ones.
Jackson was not the typical bad guy character. He actually was pretty mean/rough. He wasn't the I look bad but I'm sweet type of guy, which irritated me. I just was waiting and waiting for him to confess some sort of love to Evie.
SIGH
I don't want them to part.
In the end this book was VERY good. Definitely a page turner,I hardly wanted to put it down.

2012 cringe at its finest and most enjoyable. Incredible world building and concept behind a typical YA
I'm not sure how to rate this book; I think I've settled on 2.5 and raised it to three. I think I'll say I'll recommend it over Divergent or Hunger Games, but post-apoctalyptic stories just aren't as good as they used to be and for the most part, it's probably a genre to avoid. Lastly (for unspoiled comments), this feels a little New Adultish than Teen fiction for me, but New Adult has been having a relatively hard following as becoming a writing section [YA, AF, ANF, JF].
Spoilers are below:
There were plenty of instances where I wanted to keep reading, but then there were plenty that I was just going "End already, what is this mystery?" I also question the Arthur bit. Does it make sense for the end? Yes. Did we need him to be the catalyst for the story to come from Evie? No.
There was nothing wrong with the writing and Matthew was very interesting and Finn really really close. Just wish he didn't need to have Jackson's girl obsessed frequency. Sigh, and there were plenty of moments to hate Jackson. Sure, he could protect Evie, but it mostly feel like he was playing with her and putting up too much of a front. Maybe he gets better in later books? Who knows.
