I eyed this book on the shelves of the library I work at for some time, particularly because my longest relationship up to this point was with someone who adopted the name Cicada for herself. I have a lifelong fondness for these insects, and I've read a bit of the graphic novels by Shaun and Amy Tan.
This one took about 10 minutes to read, but it was cute and charming.

Sadly beautiful, beautifully sad with a sneaky touch of humour.
Shaun Tan’s work opens your eyes to what is invisible around us and gently tugs at your heartstrings.

An allegory? The work ethic and focus on working, working, working with no life.
