A vintage tale that remains appealing because, well, puppies are straight up cute.

Cute little picture book. The language is a tad outdated, but a cute little book nonetheless.

Read this to Kaiti last night...we both were underwhelmed...I kept looking for a message, a lesson. I kept looking for the puppies, especially Poky, to learn something and change...

So, without a theme or a dynamic character we DO have some attempt to give kids some sensory details, but Poky and his siblings didn't learn anything.

I was disappointed in this, and Kaiti got really impatient. Oh well...we tried.

Loved it as a kid. Wordy for a baby, but I can’t wait to read it to Will again when he is older. Puppies + dessert is my entire wheelhouse.

This was one of my childhood favourites. Ours was a worn and ripped copy, because it had been equally loved by my auntie, apparently. Fortunately it's still in print. Golden Books have cashed in well and truly; there are now a number of different stories involving the Poky Little Puppy.

Ben loves it; Mom, not so much...but good to keep track of what he loved for the future.

Moralistic, not surprising, but I love the repetitions and the illustrations.
