This was a brilliant sequel to City of Ghosts and I definitely really enjoyed. I loved seeing the same characters but also getting to meet new characters and new ghosts! However, I don't think this book was as creepy as the first one and that is one of my favourite parts of this series so I hope the next book brings back that aspect a bit more!

I was so shocked to see this at a bookstore and found out it was the LAST stock. I bought it on a whim, no regrets!
This is better than the first book in terms of the characters. I like that Lara is still important to the story and we get to see more of Jacob.
The pacing is great. Things start happening pretty much right away, and there’s this perfect balance between action and eerie atmosphere. I also love how the author weaves in bits of real history, giving the story more depth without feeling like a history lesson.
Now I really need to get my hands on the third book. It’s probably going to be just as hard to find, but something tells me it’s going to be so worth the hunt.
This is an easy read that was an okay read for me. Cassidy and her best friend Jacob must solve a ghostly mystery while they are in Paris. I enjoyed the setting of Paris and the sightseeing that they did. For me there is not much else to say about it except that it is fine. There are other series that are better and others that are worse.
This book is difficult to review. I still love Cassy and Jacob and their world. But, this sequel was less entertaining than City of Ghosts. V does a great job of concluding with plenty of twists and turns. It was the first 2/3 of the book that had me partially zoned out. I wanted to learn more about Cassie. I wanted to learn more about Laura. Instead, the characters rolled over from the first book with no new developments until the very end of the book when we discover Jacob’s past.
The writing style and pacing were good so I gave this a 3.5 star rating.

Even better than the first one, because the natural step-up in spookiness from Scottish cemetery, is a Parisian catacomb and a creepy, creepy child ghost who wants to play. Wonderful read for adventurous middle-graders and adults looking for a not-so-scary, quick, fun, Halloween read.
4.5 ⭐️ really fun continuation to the cassidy blake trilogy! i changed my 4.5 stars on the first book to a 4 bc i think this book was better so therefore the 4.5 on this one instead. i rlly liked this! definitely an improvement from the first book, and i enjoyed the ghosty stories and the poltergeist aspect of this one. i’m quite intrigued to see what’s gonna happen with the whole jacob sitch so i’ll definitely need to check out the third book asap!
