This was a fun book, a good middle grade thrills and chills mystery, but WOW that is a lot of Harry Potter references. Like, a lot.

fast-paced

this is actually very fast paced than the first book... i couldn’t imagine a 12 year old doing all of this...

also would like to think jacob is a metaphor for your innerself, the one that contradicts your decision in choosing your passion over the comfort of staying in a path that’s safe as well as stagnant. as you continue decising things for yourself, you recognize and discover new traits you have in the journey which then will make an inevitable impact on how you think of things, handle them emotionally.

exactly a skeptic version of yourself when the journey of life or whatever you are pursuing gets rough.

overall, it’s entertaining and short. just like what i need before i start my class on monday! will finish the last book too.

I’m always so impressed by how V is able to adapt her writing styles for different age categories, but still have them be totally authentic to her own style. There’s just as much adventure and excitement as her books aged for more mature audiences that it keeps all readers entertained, but it remains appropriate. This is something I think V has really mastered.
