So, the biggest reason I read this one at this time is b/c I recently finished a rewatch of Better Call Saul. If you've seen it, you know this book plays a background role in the final episode. While I certainly like to retain an appreciation for the classics, I think this is a good example of why I don't read them more often. I thought it was ok. I'm also certain there's some kind of deeper meaning to this one that didn't resonate with me but taken at face value it's an ok story but geeze, not a very forward thinking picture of the future in the late 1800s, was it? I did like the ending a bit - kind of leaves it up to you what happened to the guy - but as far as the particular travel we did get to hear about - I just didn't find it all that compelling. It was a slug to the end. In fact when I started it I thought I might read this and War of the Worlds back to back - I ended up just passing on that idea. LOL

I'm pretty sure that if I was one of the Time Traveler's dinner guests, I would have feigned a family emergency and left about 60 pages in. It just wasn't able to hold my attention.

Nose que esperaba pero no era eso .

I listened to the audiobook version as a test of books vs. podcasts while driving. The Time machine was a great first choice. It's a very dramatic and inventive novella. The interspecies romance was probably a bit shocking for the time.

Classic turn of the century SciFi. May have to read again as it literally made me fall asleep. Amazing imagination though
