The second book in this series and I really like CC’s writing. I loved Shawn and Lacey, I loved their chemistry and could feel it off the pages.
Friends to lovers, fake dating, secret romance, spicy, dual POVs and no third act breakup! What’s no to love ❤️

Only gave this book a try as I generally enjoy a friends to lovers but I really think her earlier stuff is not for me and I wont be continuing on with the series. You can only hear the same thing so many times before it’s so utterly boring you want to pull out your own hair for entertainment. Too much repetition of the things they would say to each other.

This is my third book by this author and definitely my least favorite. Until 80% I would have told you it was good but just really a slow read. Seriously really slow. Book 1 took me 2 days. I’m on Day 6 of this book and I told myself I can’t go to bed until it’s done. Starting at 81% I still technically DNF at 96% because nothing happened in that 15%. Why am I still reading? It just gave me time to reflect on how little actually happens in this entire book and that’s why it’s so slow. This is a fake dating story. The couple is cute and likable. The story picks up a little when they start the fake dating and then just doesn’t go anywhere.
ETA: if I had to read “Lacey girl” one more time I was going to start screaming. No. NO. She’s a freaking doctor. It’s bad enough he called her Ms instead of Dr in her waiting room but if Lacey girl was a drinking game I would have been drunk for the past 6 days.
