This story was SO FREAKING CUTE! I actually haven’t read the prequel novella, Camera Chemistry, but it’s not needed to understand this book.

It follows friends Shawn and Lacey, who agree to fake date after Lacey is left hanging by her date on the kiss cam at a football game that Shawn is coaching. Being the standup guy he is, Shawn offers his services and kisses Lacey.

I loved the genuine friendship between Shawn and Lacey and you could tell they really knew each other well. Once they agree to fake date and share a kiss, the heat between them was palpable and you wanted to get to the good stuff.

It has everything you need in a book. Fake dating! “Let’s get it out of our systems!” Sports! I loved this book, it was fun to read. It was sweet but also hot as hell.

I can’t wait to read book 3 in the series!

Lacey, a successful pediatrician, and Shawn, a successful ex-NFL player turned head coach, have been besties for a while. In a wild situation, he kisses her while on screen at the stadium during one of his team’s games which sets off speculation that they’re together. order to help each other - him with alleviating his family’s “why are you still single” concerns and her with a fundraiser for the hospital she works for - they agree to perpetuate the ruse and fake date through the holiday season. Of course, in this classic “you idiots” trope book, it’s not really fake now is it?

“Forever is a long time,” I say. “And it still wouldn’t be long enough. I love you so very much. I think maybe I’ve always loved you,”

i loved watching shawn and lacey’s friendship grow and turn into more. their communication was so endearing and refreshing and seeing them fall in love with each other was so heartwarming. one of the best friends-to-lovers romance i’ve read to date.
