This was sweet and the dirty talk was excellent. I love the friends to lovers and fake dating tropes. I debated between 3.75 and 4 tho, but decided on 3.75 for a couple reasons - 1) too long, like I literally skipped pages at the end and still understood the plot, 2) too repetitive esp with the spicy scenes (how many times do we need to read about 3 finger fingering, jeez), 3) and honestly a little too saccharine! But props for healthy communication, supportive partnership, and a sweet love story 🥰

"Just you & me, Lacey girl."

Words quite literally cannot describe my OBSESSION with this book (and everything else Chelsea writes); I have already read it twice. If I could create my own love story, it would be everything that Shawn and Lacey have; the honesty, the trust, EVERYTHING. Anytime someone asks for a book rec, this is always among my top suggestions! I know that this series has more coming and I am going to EAT them allll up!

Lacey and Shawn are super cute, supportive and loving but man this book was WAY too long for nothing to really happen. Friends to lovers are my favorite trope but they were pretty much right at the cusp of lovers right at the beginning and they kept repeating the same thing over and over again: favorite person, best thing ever, she seems me, you deserve the best… etc etc but repeated so many times. The spice was good but then it just repeated over and over again… sometimes it’s ok to fade to black. Like did we really need that scene in the middle of the snowball fight? She could’ve cut at least 4 sex scenes and 15 monologues and ended the book at 300 pages. No third act break or conflict which I appreciated. If they had one on TOP of being so damn obvious to themselves and each other about their feelings, it would’ve been the worst read of the year. Thankfully, that unnecessary drama was skipped.

Not a bad book. Very cute with lots of spice and light football terminology.
