I was incredibly surprised with how much I enjoyed this! I usually tend to enjoy both shounen and seinen, but the latter a great deal more. Shounen gets to be too "monster of the week" for me, although that isn't always the case. This is the same author who wrote Soul Eater and I enjoyed the anime for that, so I'm not sure why I didn't think this series would be interesting too. There's some ecchi and there are some of the usual quirks because of that but it's not over-the-top or annoying.

The basic premise for this is: people spontaneously combust and there's a team of firefighters (not like regular firefighters though) who take care of them. The firefighters have different levels of abilities with fire/heat/etc and some don't even have that, but they're all on the same side (for the most part), trying to extinguish the fire people and any problems that arise from them. The main character has "reasons" of course for why he wants to help, and although it's clichéd (FMA anyone?), it's still compelling enough that I need to find out why too.

All in all, really glad I gave this a chance and it's a series I'll definitely continue with.

Interesting premise, but something feels... flat to me? I think I’ll have to give it a few more volumes before I make a full decision on it, but so far it’s very meh.

This was my first time EVER reading a manga and I enjoyed every bit of it!

Fire Force takes place in the city of Tokyo where people can randomly die from human combustion which are also known as infernals. The only way these infernals can be put to rest is by a special fire force team, in which we follow Special Fire Cathedral 8 in the story. The main character of the series, Shinra Kusakabe, joins Engine 8 as a first class fire soldier. Shinra is infamously known for his evil nervous devil grin and his "devil footprints" or the ability to produce fire from his feet. We follow Shinra's story as he begins to uncover the hidden secrets of what happened to his mother and baby brother, Sho after the fire that claimed their lives 12 years ago.

Even though this was my first time reading a manga, I'm very familiar with the show on Hulu and Funimation. Me and my fiancé, are currently watching Season 2 on Funimation and are in love with it! Since I'm well off into the series, and know a little bit more than what I'm reading in the manga, I will strictly discuss Chapters 1 - 4 in the Manga.

First of all, I'm in love with Shinra Kusakabe all over again. The author of this story draws you into his character and all the things he had to endure as a little boy. I think that the concept of this series is amazing and I'm really looking forward to see where the author of the series is going to take us. Comparing the series to the show on Funimation, I believe that everything is the same. The only thing that I notice is that some of the dialogue, is different but that's just me nitpicking. Other than that, everything is pretty much spot-on!
