This is not it. I just can’t support a story that features a man, who has two young adult sons, taking in a 17 year old distant relative, whose parents just died and who was neglected her entire life, and having sex with her while also letting his sons have sex with her.

Not to mention all of the physical and emotional abuse that takes place as well as sexual assault.

And we’re all supposed to think this is sexy?!?

Once again Penelope Douglas showing me that when I think she writes something fucked up, she shuts me up and writes something even more.
.
After a tragic accident Tiernan is orphaned, being in the hands of his uncle, who lives in a town far from the city and his house even further into the forest, he has two sons who do not seem to accept the idea of having a girl at home, because whatever happens, winter will come and they will have to be locked for months the four of them at home. What will happen if Tiernan becomes even more involved in the lives of these men?
.
Once again I fell for the BookTok recommendations, the first Red flag I should have seen is that it is written by an author who loves to write about scandalous topics, but I was with the idea that the girl falls in love with a mute guy and well, a broken guy fell in love with a broken girl, is one of my favorite tropes, but lol what I didn't know is that before that, she would go through each of the family members, like we get it you have daddy issues, but your uncle? And her only excuse is that they are not blood brothers, ahhhh thank goodness, I feel even better, I don't know why I finished this book, there were many smuty scenes but so shaddy, I was a little uncomfortable that the girl just turned 18 and everyone wants to steal her little flower, like, and in the end they are all happy, what's wrong with them, they are like animals and nobody thinks it's weird?, the only thing I can say is that it was entertaining? Or at least I think so, with everything that happened I had no time to think it was boring.

honestly had to push through reading this only because I knew how it ended and I needed to know how it happened. the ending isn't really worth the trauma those books caused me.

page 1 to 200 : nothing really happens. Tiernan learns how to live on a farm and tending to a household in the middle of nowhere in winter. [barn keeping, hunting, fishing, etc]

200 to 350 : hell breaks loose. literally. a fire, some sexual content [bordeline assault tbh], fights, anger issues, isolation for long period of time.

350 to 470 : we learn what happened to Kaleb and why he's the way he is. Jake finds the person he needs and Noah realizes racing his the love of his life.

the 2 last chapters are cute but do not counter balance the darkness in the rest of the book.

the first 200 pages were useless, my friend who was reading the book picked up where I was so we could read together and she said that she understood everything.
