least favorite Palahniuk book I've read. It just never grabbed me the way his books usually do. Or maybe I am just irritable.

Palahniuk became an obsession when I first read one of his books, but I really think the book-a-year thing hurt him. This book is like Snuff, Pygmy, Tell-All, and Damned are all quite similar. The characters are boringly nihilistic in a way that makes it extremely hard to even care at all what happens to them. Tell-All is so overwritten as well. Very little happens. He introduces a stylistic writing mechanic and then repeats it a lot, amongst the other stylistic writing mechanics. It's three quarters ridiculous murder plots, puns, over-the-top movie script satires, and other schticks, and a quarter actual plot. This whole book would have been better suited getting cut up and put into other characters and stories.

A first person narration in the style of old Hollywood gossip. A lascivious read for a lazy Saturday afternoon lounging in your silk robe.

I gave up 40 pages in. Sorry Chuck, I am not the audience for this one despite everything else I've loved from you thus far. The bold faces annoyed me quite a bit. I much prefer Invisible Monsters for a compelling story about a has-been beauty queen.

I didn't find this book to be awful but it was not one of his best. It took me 100 pages to actually find it entertaining.

Struggled through this, started to go somewhere during act II (halfway through its 179 pages). Always been a big fan of Chuck but this one just wasn't for me.
