I really wanted to like this more because I loved House of Hollow, but even though the writing was beautiful, I just couldn't get past the violence. This has to be the goriest book I've ever read, and I'm a regular horror reader. The author spent way too much time describing the really violent and gory aspects of the plot that it slowed everything down and eventually I had to start skipping huge chunks of the book because it was just too gross and too detailed. I love the idea of this book and the three main characters but it was so disturbing that at times I just found it hard to slog through.

I haven’t read House of Hollow but I can say, after this, I definitely will! I adore strong friendships and this definitely gives that.
It’s definitely more creepy/horror mystery than I usually read but not too graphic.
I really enjoyed hearing different viewpoints from each character and what they felt. It really gave a well rounded view of everything going on.
I enjoyed this and can’t wait to read her other work!
