I. Loved. This.
That is all.
Oh, and the audio narration was perfect.
Oh, and Jude Wolf is everything.

This one was overall good and I enjoyed my time reading it. I think just because of how much the authors first book knocked me flat I had slightly higher expectations going in, and I didn’t connect emotionally to it in the same way I did the first. Still well worth a read though!

I read this as one of the books for my grad class on YA materials and really appreciated how supernatural elements were used to expand the larger conversation about violence against women. The magic system and the symbiotic relationship between humans and the demons they made deals with was really cool and while I believe this was marketed as a standalone, there is a lot of series potential and I am curious of whether this story will continue. I had a great time reading this but the author did not hold back on gory elements so if you are squeamish, be aware that there is a lot of graphic body horror in this book!!

It was a pretty fun book and the magic system was interesting. But the ending was too rushed and neatly tied up, and I didn't like Jude. Wasn't feeling the romance either since it felt like the two didn't feel very compatible. Felt sorry for Zara though, she really was a third wheel

"The Invocations" to niezwykle emocjonalna lektura, piękna w bólu i cierpieniu cieknących z jej stron.
