I love this book. I loved that it was a glimpse into my own generational evolution of self. It was hilarious at times and it was thought-provoking throughout. I think this will be a cultural classic and I’d love to see it recognized with all the literary praise and awards it deserves.

Update 11/26: I ended up finishing the book after my friend suggested listening to it at 1.5x or more speed, plus I still had it on Libby and the other book I wanted wasn’t available yet. So I stuck it out but it just never got better for me. There were some parts that were interesting, or humorous, or even poignant at times, but there was so much that felt like unnecessary filler. If the book was cut in half, I think I might have been able to enjoy it more.

I could not get through this book. I tried, I really tried. I thought if I could just stick it out, perhaps it would be worthwhile in the end but I couldn’t stick it out. It just seemed to ramble on and on unnecessarily, and I don’t have enough leisure time on my hands to use it up being inside the overly anxious minds of the modern American couple. There are so many great books out there, and I’m at a stage of life where if I want something that is satirical or lighthearted, I want it in shorter doses or I need it to hold much greater meaning than I found here.

I loved it! Like lots of mini novellas all into one book. I’d recommend as almost a mid point between fiction and nonfiction
It was a very real and touching story, however I didn’t need as many of the flashbacks into their early lives. I understand that it was important to show how it shaped them and their love language essentially but at times it felt very meandering. I didn’t connect with either of the main characters particularly so it was hard to root for them. I think I maybe read this book at the wrong time
This book was entertaining but about too many things. I could tell the author was excited learning about algorithms and polyamory, etc, but it did not inspire the same wonder in me.
