What a devastating and heart wrenching book. What an accurate and gut punch of a depiction of middle age. I could not have listened to this book at a more poignant time in my life, and maybe that’s why I was so absolutely WRECKED by it. I hated and loved every minute of it, and even the parts where I felt like I was tuning out I realized later there was absolutely no way to leave that backstory out. I wish I could re read this book a million times and have it take me over the coals again and again. I have never felt so seen by someone who has never met me and knows nothing about me. Favorite of the year.

Heerlijk boek dat heel wat actuele thema's aansnijdt. Het is een dik boek, maar het leest heel vlot. Waarom geen 5 sterren? Soms legt de auteur dingen uit die al duidelijk zijn door de context. De lezer is naar mijn gevoel in staat zelf deze linken te leggen.

Ugh. The world commentary was so smart. All about miscommunication, community, love, truth, intensions, hope. But the book also didn't take itself too seriously. It was also well consturcted and funny. I could relate with every character and understood how they saw the situations.
