Most of it was a little too portrait of a marriage for me, but there were a few spots that were really lovely.

Not my cup of tea. Started off promising - I loved how Jack and Elizabeth fell in love— but struggled to finish. I almost quit reading several times. So many words. Where was the editor.

Audiobook

This was almost a 5-star for me. I really enjoyed the evolution of the main characters. Their formative years and secrets were doled out throughout the story in a way that was completely non-gratuitous. It was also unpredictable, at least to me. They weren't used as plot twists. These bits of their history were used more to explain who they are and why. The very last 10 minutes or so were not my favorite. They seemed completely unrelated to anything else in the book. Without those last 10 minutes, this might have been a 5-star read.

Absolutely LOVED this.

By far, my favorite book of the year. I loved The Nix but this book was even better. Witty commentary that was laugh out loud funny on topics as diverse as the psychology of feeding two year olds to how to prepare for an orgy. The writing is absolutely top notch. And the narrator made every minute of the 19 hours worth it.
