I highly highly recommend this read especially for Canadians as a lot of the great works on racism while good are American centric. It is so so important to know our own countries racist policies and ideas so we are better equipped to change them. That being said this is not a quick read as this book is information and heartbreak heavy please allow yourself the time and care to learn and process without becoming bogged down.

A must read for all Canadians especially white Canadians. They don't teach the history of exploitation in schools and they certainly don't teach the current oppression that Black people live under in this country.

Such an important read for all Canadians, as this breaks down the racist, and misogynistic history of Canada. I really enjoyed how much focus there was on Black Women, the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and the Sex Work community. I've always found in many books that talk about these subjects always seem to forget or ignore the Sex Work community especially, but also how much harm is done to the LQBTQIA2S+ community with policing.
Policing is harmful to many communities, and creates more dangerous conditions for children, women, and men alike. This leads to much psychological, and physical harm that leads to negative lifelong impacts.
It was really important for me to read this book as it's about Canada and it was very beneficial for me to learn more about this.

Oh god, this was hard to read. I had to put it down so many times because my heart was so heavy. It's a big clunky to read but keep going you need to know all of this information.
