Loved it!

This book is definitely not your typical boy meets girl plot and I'm all the way here for it! There was just the right amount of suspense and intrigue; I hope to see more of these characters in the future.

This was a great look into Ace's life. We got to understand her and get loyalty. We get to see her emotional side as well. Ace is not love to be trifled with.

Once again, we have black trauma being used as a plot device. This time it’s trafficking. Ace a.k.a. Alicia is an odd character. She’s developed at first as being robotic and soldier like to the point where it’s just hard to connect with her. She has no depth or emotion, and she falls flat as a human being. To top it all off, she’s an asshole. At this point, again, using this much trauma as a plot device it’s just fucking weird I’m not into it..

A 3 even feels a little generous tbh. I’m pretty bummed this fell flat for me, since I was looking forward to this outing from book 1. 

The crime suspense of it all dragged for me, I could have done with 5 less villains. The baby mama, not here for it, and unnecessary to add to Alicia/Ace’s turn to exposing her feelings

when her sister in law is also having a baby in the same damn book

. 

I wish the book had prioritized their chemistry and banter more over the many many subplots.
