Dual POV + one pager POVs from Bodhi!

Enjoyed Henry and Jade’s backstory. A bit invisible string theory with how they always were pulled to another.
Felt this wrapped up really quickly and would have loved to see a bit more of them.
Their book continues to move this series along and sets up Conor for his story (Kyleigh’s brother from book 1).

This was such a sweet read! It was a lot deeper and more reflective than the first book was and it did take me a few days to read as I'm usually not one for slow books but it was really worth it 🥹 This is very much couple-focused and I was glad for it! We really got to explore so much of their past and present relationship.

It was nice having a full cast of narrators. The story was evenly paced and balanced. Characters personalities and emotions flowed well.
Main characters: Henry and Jade
Mr. Broody may be my favorite of the series. It was cute and a fun read. The characters are wonderful and easy to like. Plenty of romance and laughs.
Henry and Jade thought they were forever. So when they separated, they were devastated. Looking back, it was probably best. They needed that time to grow and live out their dreams. Jade especially needed that time. She basically followed Henry. He didn’t ask or require her to do anything but she had done issues that shaped her behavior.
Now they are older. Henry is a successful hockey player and a single father to adorable Bodhi. He has an apartment in the Nest and is surrounded by his teammates. The Nest is family and they take care of each other. Jade has traveled the world taking great photos and living her dream.
This is their time and they will take full advantage with a nudge or two from Bodhi and the rest of the crew. Bodhi is the real MVP in this story! A 6/7 genius.
Per usual we get a glimpse into the next book in the series and it’s going to be a doozy!

I love that this was my first {listen} read of 2025! It is sweet, angsty, and a single dad second chance romance… my favorite!
Bodhi, Henry’s first grade son, is the freakin’ cutest, and his play on matchmaker - adorable and hilarious! I looked forward to his pov and never tired of seeing things through his eyes. I absolutely melted when he claimed Jade as both Henry’s AND his.
The “it’s always been you” trope gets me every dang time. My romantic heart just melts, especially if there’s a long history beginning in childhood + mutual pining over a long period of time. Yes, please. It makes things even better when the story is as much swoony as it is funny, too. I loved the chemistry, the banter, and the meddling (in the best way) teammates.
I have learned that if there is a full-cast narrated audiobook - GIMME!! They are so immersive and it’s a whole VIBE. Full-cast for Mr. Broody included: Brooke Bloomingdale, JF Harding, Sean Masters, Connor Crais, Troy Duran, Teddy Hamilton, and Carly Robins. JF Harding as “Daddy Henry” should be enough said. He can read an instruction manual and have you looking at him with heart eyes. Overall, this cast was fun, swoony, and a fabulous group to listen to!
Mr. Broody is the second installment in The Nest series and let me just say…the ending!!! I absolutely cannot wait to read the third.

The Nest is going to become one of my favorite series, for sure! Not only because my favorite sports romance is about hockey, but because Piper Rayne is giving me what I love most in these kinds of series: teammates who become a real family and are always there to support each other in difficult times, something that was much more evident in Mr. Broody. Also, I loved the story that the authors created for Henry, Jade & Bodhi: it broke my heart at times (something I didn't expect), I had a lot of fun, and also my heart melted because of all the love between all these characters.
Jade is a character that arrived surprisingly at the end of the first book and that I was dying to meet, she's a girl who has always been a little lost in her own life, who has some insecurities that lead her to always put herself second, but she was also, and still is, Henry's biggest support, the girl who is always willing to support those she loves and a woman with a big heart. One of the things I loved most about this character was the strong and beautiful relationship she has with her mom and stepdad (who I'm dying to read about), how fun her moments are with her younger siblings, and how they all form a great family that she, Henry & Bodhi can always count on. I also really liked that the authors gave Jade a complex personal story with her past traumas, her love for photography, and all her feelings for the one who has always been the love of her life.
Henry is the character I've been looking forward to reading about the most in this series since I read the first book: a professional hockey player and single father who seems to always be in control, is extremely organized, and who cares about his teammates as if they were his family (because they are actually a big, fun family), and that's one of the things I loved most about this book, because I think Piper Rayne showed me more intensely how close Rowan, Tweetie, Connor & Kyleigh are, how involved they are in raising and caring for Bodhi, Henry's son, and I loved that they all play the role of cupid at certain moments. I also really enjoyed that the authors wrote some chapters from Bodhi's point of view because that added a lot to the story.
Jade & Henry have an interestingly heartbreaking and loving story: they went from being childhood best friends to being in an intense relationship to being strangers, but they never stopped loving each other, and I love that the authors NEVER question each other's feelings for the other but at the same time their love for each other seems to not be enough because of the insecurities and fears they both have, especially when Jade comes back into Henry's life after many years apart. I LOVED the complexity of this couple's situation, how Victoria & Reed are always there to advise them and speak to them from their own experience, and how Jade & Henry are willing to face all the obstacles around them in order to finally be happy, but I think what I liked most about their plot was that Henry trusts Jade completely (especially that moment of tension towards the end of the book), that Henry has his own personal circumstances that stop him from being happy too and that Bodhi falls in love with Jade as much as his dad does.
Finally, I think Owen & Waylon deserve a special mention because their presence gave a very fun twist to the plot of this book, I loved reading them having a close relationship with Henry thanks to their love for hockey, I LOVED them being those annoying little brothers for Jade and what melted my heart the most was the adorable way they interact with Bodhi, and for all that I would love for the authors to give us their stories too.

4.5 stars!
When it comes to first loves and second chances, Mr. Broody takes the cake. This story is heartwarming, and swoony, and will definitely have you believing in second chances.
From the moment we meet Henry and Jade, you can tell their story will rock your world. Despite all their time apart, history, and heartbreak, the pull and chemistry is still there. And while Henry would love nothing more than to win back the woman he let get away, it’s not just him he has to think about, he also has to think of his son Bodhi…
Get ready to have your heart stolen, as this second-chance romance will consume you from the first page and be impossible to put down. Not only are the characters entertaining, but their struggles are relatable. I adored Henry’s son, Bodhi, and was not prepared at all for him to run away with my heart.
Now, like any good love story, Mr. Broody isn’t without its share of ups and downs. There are a lot of obstacles and wounds of the past to overcome. But I promise you, the journey is 100% worth it and will have you rooting for Jade and Henry’s happily ever after.
Mr. Broody is a one-of-a-kind romance filled with love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. This story is about finding your place and taking chances. It’s about letting go of your fears, and guilt and not repeating the mistakes of the past. In the end, Mr. Broody is the kind of story that will surprise you in the best possible way and leave you with all the feels.
