This was adorable, sweet but also heartbreaking at the same time. I could not put it down, getting the flashbacks of Henry and Jade’s past were again cute and lovely but also some just break your heart. This is a book that I would describe the MC’s as destined to be together. It’s nice to see them heal as characters, going through changes and learning how to cope with those.
Jade (Our FMC), is struggling with finding herself while having so much else happening around her and to her loved ones. She has been away from her home for years constantly travelling and not settling down due to her line of work, however Henry (Our MMC), since they last saw each other 3 years prior he was in the process of adopting his son while balancing hockey and pining over the love of his life. He also had a bit of a tougher childhood than some.
I loved loved loved that we got some of Bodhi’s (Henry’s son) POV. His adorable little thought processes and trying to devise plans because you can see how much he just loves his dad and Jade too.
I will definitely go and read Mr. Heartbreaker (book #1) of this series, can’t wait until the third one is released.

Quotes I Loved
"Congratulations, you have everything you wanted."
My chest almost caves in. Jesus, does she really think that's true? I run a hand through my hair. She's so wrong, but it's not the time to tell her. If I had everything, I'd have her.
"So, what exactly are we agreeing to?" "I think you just agreed to marry me," he says, cockiness in his tone. "You're gonna need to get down on one knee with a ring, buddy. I didn't wait this long to get engaged to have my proposal be in a hospital room, with bedhead and swollen eyes."
"I almost forgot." Bodhi runs into the room with his bag from the zoo, dumping it on the bed and pulling out the stickers he got. "It's not time for playing. Let Jade read you a story, and then it's bed," Henry says. "Just one thing." He opens the stickers and pulls out the sheet with a bunch of elephants on it, taking the biggest one off. Then he perfectly positions the elephant sticker on the glass of the frame on the opposite side of the little elephant in the picture. "There. Now Jade's in the picture too." My heart squeezes, and my eyes water. I turn my head to find Henry with his mouth parted in awe right before his eyes meet mine, and he smiles.
Damn, she looks too good in my clothes.
Daddy puts his hand on Jade's cheek and pulls her closer to him.
And they kiss. Oh my gosh. It worked! Jade is going to be my mommy!

Well, I'm completely hooked on this series🥰 the second part was even better for me🤩 and most importantly the main male character has an adopted boy, and in the book we even get a few chapters from that boy's POV🤩 and he's awesome! 🤩 but the ending was like WHAAAT? What now?? And it's over. Now i will have to wait for part 3🫣

Giving this 3.5⭐️s cause the full-cast audiobook was good.
I usually love a good second chance romance, but I feel like I missed all the angst/pining/yearning they usually come with? This was cute and all, but I was left wanting more.

I enjoyed this audiobook. It seemed like it had a lot more spice than the first book which was fine but it was just a little strange having Bodhi’s chapters after a spicy scenes. I was just a little off put by the FMC. She was a little whiny and thought pretty low of herself and her abilities…Henry though was *chefs kiss*
Totally saw the lead in to the next book coming (Connor’s book) and see the potential for Tweedy’s love interest

I honestly had a hard time rating this book. I had a good time listening to it, but when I sat with it for a while, there were two things that really bugged me and I’ll get into those in a minute.
This is a childhood sweethearts, single dad, second chance hockey romance and the second book in the series. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author, although I’ve read their gothic romance under a different pen name. It can definitely be read as a standalone. I didn’t feel like I was missing any information.
The full cast narration was the highlight of the book for me. I haven’t listened to many, so it’s always a treat. Brooke Bloomingdale is the only new-to-me member of the cast and I enjoyed her portrayal of Jade. All the others are narrators I enjoy listening to. I particularly enjoyed Teddy Hamilton’s portrayal of Henry’s son Bodhi. He was so adorable with his matchmaking schemes and made me enjoy the story even more. J.F Harding was amazing as Henry, accurately portraying the different sides of his personality, from loving father, to responsible team leader, to dirty talking lover.
I loved the found family aspect of the story. Henry is really close to his teammates Rowan, Tweetie and Connor. They all live in the same building, they support him in raising Bodhi as a single dad. They exchange a lot of banter and bring a lot of humour to the story. I loved the chapters in Bodhi’s POV. They were so cute.
I’m not usually a fan of second chance romance (because of the way the authors tend to go back and forth in time with whole chapters), but I enjoyed the flashback scenes in this. There were brief scenes of the past, sprinkled in through out the story, with a good transition that didn’t disrupt the flow of the story. I also enjoyed the spicy scenes.
There were two elements in the story that didn’t sit well with me. The first was the way Henry kept making decisions about their relationship as if she couldn’t think for herself. I could excuse it if he’d only done that when they were young. At 22 people don’t make the best decisions. But when they reconnect at 30, he’s clearly matured, but he was still making decisions based one-sided conversations with himself, rather than talking things out with her. It took him the whole book to learn to not do that. The second thing is when he thought about getting back together again it was more frequently about how he wanted to screw her again and not that he missed their emotional connection. I kept thinking, “do you want her back because you miss her or do you just miss the sex?”
Despite not liking certain things, I enjoyed this book overall and I actually want to listen to the next one when it comes out. The ending sets up the next book in an exciting way and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in the story.
*I received an advance copy from Valentine PR and these opinions are entirely my own.

i have really been enjoying the nest series by piper rayne and jumping into mr. broody was no different :) the found family, banter between characters, and chemistry all bring this book together so well! henry and jade have a second chance, childhood friends to lovers, single dad romance where you can really tell they are just meant to be.
a really unique part of this book was that henry’s son has some chapters from his perspective that show him meddling and scheming to try and get henry and jade together. this was a fun little addition to me and it felt very on the nose for a little kid!
i enjoyed that the conflict didn’t seem manufactured but felt realistic. sometimes you love somebody but where life is taking you just doesn’t work out, especially with a relationship in college. overall, i really enjoyed how these two found their way back to each other 🫶🏻
