The world building was cool, but the writing was absolutely atrocious. Lots of repetition like queso cheese (“hellish inferno”) and telling instead of showing. I know next to nothing about Cross or his motivations other than that he is hot and has some kind of vaguely tragic backstory with his mother.

There have been so many overhyped romantasy books lately that I was excited to read this one but not keeping my hopes too high. Man, I was PLEASANTLY surprised. This was such a good story. Character development, strong plot, natural progression, romance, action. The language was easy and not overwhelming. The plot was so good that even though our main character male, Cross, would be an ideal book boyfriend, I was eager to leave the romance sections to get to the action. Highly recommend. When’s book two come out?
