I regret having read the whole series. I thought that there will be something that the end can provide. But, nada.

The idea is intriguing, having Beauty to return as a ruler in the kingdom that enslaved her. She also did lots of er, reforms and initiatives to make Bellavalten a sexy, kinky fantasy land. However, the book has too many POVs it got me confused. And the last chapter with Lexius appearance is a WTF moment. And Dimitri?? I don't remember them at all from the previous books. Their descriptions are just too much. It cost one star from my rating. Overall, a quick read (skipped half of the paddling thing, paddling is paddling, boring) but I still recommend this over Fifty Shites of Grey.

While I was orginally excited - although admittedly aprehensive - to hear of Rice's resurrection of Bellavalten, I was more than a little disappointed in the book itself.
The relationships were mechanical, and with the exception of one chapter told from the point of view of one slave, the interactions and descriptions were hazy and half-hearted at best.

Not at all what I was expecting from Anne Rice's Beauty.
Disappointing.
