the ideas in this collection are as fantastic as everything that angela davis shares. however, my slightly lower rating simply comes from the fact that reading interviews and speeches is generally less engaging to me than reading essay-work. i listened to recordings of a few of the speeches after reading them and found them far more engaging and accessible in their intended format, which speaks to the strength of davis' ideologies and activism.
if you get a copy of this, i'd recommend using it as subtitles - read along while you're listening to the specific speech or interview and you'll get a lot more out of her words.

if you didn't know that these essays, interviews, and speeches were from 2013-2015 you’d think they were published today. when she mentioned the boycott of starbucks in 2015 my reaction was 😮bc i wasn’t aware of the bds movement until last year. it was just crazy to learn how much of this applies to what’s happening now & that just goes to show the relevancy of the topics discussed. i really loved the interview portions and think everyone should read this.

I would love an updated version or for Davis to revisit some of these conversations in light of the recent movement
