I enjoyed this book- it is definitely of it's time (it was written in 1945) but it has a good sense of humour and I learned a surprising amount about Cornish tin mining. I do wish the romance didn't have quite such an age gap though!
Edit: something very dark happens later in this series so I've come back to add to this review that I would no longer recommend the series!

„Autumn lingered on as if fond of its own perfection.“
This book really surprised me. I like historical fiction, but usually they are pretty lengthy and I tend to not finish them because of that. But this one definitely wasn’t.
If I‘m 100% honest, I only read this because of the TV show. I was pretty obsessed with Ross and Demelzas story. And if you store your feminism away and are can get over the problematic age gap (by todays standards I guess), you’re good to go.
