I really enjoyed this and think it would make a cute movie! I wish that there was more in it, but I think that shows how much I liked it that I wanted more. Frasier is able to be very concise and quick while telling her story, but it also doesn't feel rushed (but like I said, I did want more and wouldn't have minded more expansion on the existing topics). I liked how we saw BeeBee being pulled in different directions and how she worked to manage that, but I feel like Annie's development was less developed - BUT I still really liked it! Highly recommend if you're looking for a cute YA, especially going into Pride!

Trigger Warning: Transphobia

4.5 ⭐️

Thank you NetGally for allowing me to review this book.

This graphic novel is definitely a fun, informative and a quick read. I definitely did enjoy this.

To be honest, I wasn’t really that hooked at the beginning of the story but I did end up enjoying like after the 10 pages.

The characters were relatable. Ginter and Bebe, I so relate to them, Ginter being this Grumpy and Bebe this shy person. I’m so happy that they get to find good friends and good family.

This graphic novel really speaks important message, from people being transphobic, bully and to parents being this overprotective and pressure (I’m glad that this problem was talked) and this narcissistic boy I hate so much (I really hoped he got lectured more).

Although I hoped that this was much longer to really show the development of the Ginter and Bebe and the resolution on the conflict.

Overall this is such a fun read. Highly recommended.

THIS WAS ADORABLE AND PERFECT. I can’t even articulate any thoughts to write a formal review detailing why you should pick this up but the main message of this graphic novel is TO BE WHO YOU ARE unapologetically - and so here I am, a messy human being who I am.

REASONS YOU SHOULD READ CHEER UP

1) Anti social, grumpy, cynical main girl who is a lesbian and she is hilarious

2) Main girls mum is the literal best. Very eccentric, has a Rory-Lorelei relationship vibe with her daughter. Her mother is really COOL and accepting

3) Tran girl love interest who is BEAUTIFUL and a people pleaser learning to break that barrier. This pairing is opposites attract and I love how they balance each other out.

4) Cheerleading and LGBTQ+ do I need to say more?

5. Annie’s prom look is the best thing I have ever seen in my life, I’m in love with her,

6) You’ll fly through this one because it’s so damn cute and funny.

Sweet coming of age story. Great real moments of growth for a lot of characters, and wonderful nuanced queer and trans representation.
