So glad this is over….

I like teacher -student romance books. In fact I wrote one myself. However, I feel like they need to be in certain way so that way they are written in a way that could be considered abusive. Which I felt like this one was. There was definite grooming involved. Would there even be relationship if he didn’t exchange numbers with her? If he didn’t tell her to come to his place? He treated her like a crap and left her with the fallout and Dani just excepted it. The whole I can’t cook thing got super juvenile and old. I really wanted Ansel to win - I also felt like he didn’t get a proper ended. Same with Sage and Sasha - do they break up again or tie the knot? Why was this a 600 page book? It was all too much for me.

I freakin love this book. I am a huge fan of teacher/student romances. Now I do with that the book was a little shorter than it was; I may or may not of gotten bored in the middle of it an skipped until I found a part I though was good. If your looking for another good student/teacher relationship, then try out Beg, Borrow, or steal by Susie Tate:

Well, this one went back and forth for me, but ultimately I think it's definitely a 4.5 star story. Broken high school senior (who survived a school shooting where she lost her mother) now lives with her brother, as her only immediate family left. She spent months in the hospital recovering from her own gunshot wound, and is not starting a new school for her senior year.

She is assigned to spend 1 class period each day with the guidance counselor... and then...

It goes up and down with them, and the supporting cast of the book is awesome too. Her friends, her brother, I want to read about all of them in their own stories!!

I’m obsessed

This is my second time reading this book and I love it as much the second time as I did the first!

I usually look for books that are more focused on the MC and dual point of views so I can get an understanding of what they’re thinking. This book is different because we only hear from Dani and while I wasn’t a fan right away, that quickly changed once I started reading!

I am in love with the way this book is written to showcase Dani and her struggles and growth, while also giving us the romance we crave. I felt as if I was inside the pages in her world watching her heal and learn to love life again. You know it’s written beautifully when you close the book and feeling like you found a friend even if they aren’t real.

I would read this book over and over again and I think you should too!

this book almost made me cry…ALMOST.

even though i felt like the fmc had more chemistry with the friend, i could see how having a relationship with her school counselor fit better with the book.

i won’t lie there were a couple things that pissed me off. one of them being the 80% breakup act for ‘her own good’ and the fact we never know if he was celibate during the separation. i won’t wine and complain but yes that did knock it down a star. and yes i was also rooting for her to fall in love with the friend lol.

they only had sex twice before the separation and the last time (the night before the hero left his job, sold his apartment and left her) he kept on saying “i’m sorry” which reminded me a lot of one scene from the Off Balance series by Lucia Franco except Kova said it in russian. it still broke my heart though because you could feel it coming. at least there wasn’t any OW drama though.

safety:
virgin heroine (she has had a few boyfriends in the past which made me believe she was not a virgin but she is. the mmc is her first and only)
the hero is not a virgin and doesn’t appear to be a manwhore (no mention of his sexual past we just know he had condoms in his bedroom)
no OW drama and no past hookups showing up (thank god)
OM drama (if you want to call it that) she has a guy bsf that likes her but she turned him down, they were still great friends afterwards. they never kissed or had sex although she thought about kissing him once.
no others during separation: i know the heroine was not with anyone else and didn’t date anyone else but not sure about the hero though i would assume he was celibate. the heroine, while traveling europe with her guy bsf, sleeps in the same bed as him every night because he stops her nightmares.

quotes:

“Because I’m not about to fuck you like some horny teenage boy that can’t control himself. You mean more to me than that.”

“The best things in life are meant to be savored. Treasured.”

“The thoughts I have about you break so many fucking rules. If I’m going to hell for this, I want to do it thoroughly. I want to take my time. I want to explore every crevice of your body with my tongue and pluck your thoughts like a guitar string. I want to know the ins and outs of what you love and why you love it. I want to know the most sensitive parts of your body, what makes you moan my name and beg for more. I’m a selfish bastard, Dandelion Meadows, and I want every fucking part of you.”

and of course i have to include one quote from the guy bsf that really broke my heart because you could tell how much he loved her and how much it hurt him to see her in love with someone who broke her heart. this quote was when the guy bsf read the letter that the hero wrote the heroine because she threw it away and he was telling her to read it.

“You were never going to choose me, not when you have someone that loves you like that.”
