These books were just delightful. They were grand adventures in their own right, but when you add in all the fun the authors had referencing other fantasy tropes...well, you just have to read them to understand. Red shirts made a notable appearance in this one, and Hogworts showed up, too. This time around a sleeping beauty awakens and flees from a marriage to Vas Deference from Taynt (yup, THIS kind of humor). She meets up with a group of fellow misfits and they adventure their way to happiness. Throw in a few elf butts and otter balls, and it's pretty darned obvious that the authors enjoyed themselves mightily.

4/5 stars. Finally, an adult book that doesn't take itself seriously!
From the beginning, this book ropes you in, suddenly switching perspective because the realm's equivalent of God told the narrator that fantasy books were most commonly written in the third person. It's not every day you find a legitimately funny fantasy novel that still addresses gender identity, religion, the meaning of life, self-expression, racism (towards carnivorous trees), and the well-deserved perils of being a misogynist.
However, the plot does feel a bit disjointed at times. There are many different things that happen in the book, and I would appreciate if more of them tied together. Some of the plot points just happen and are never returned to, and don't matter at all in terms of the overall plot. There are also quite a few characters that have little or sometimes no individual personality. Some are just names. It gets a little confusing in parts.
I would still recommend this book, especially if you're in need of some levity. I accidentally laughed aloud multiple times.

I can't do it. I am not the target audience. I am fine with puns, but they're just ... There. Like the references. It's not funny to me to just reference something. I think maybe I can't handle this level of camp. It feels forced and trying too hard. I can't read "swole" again.

Absolutely terrible. Parodies are one thing, but this book took the concept of a parody and threw it into a bucket of tampon jokes, piss humor, and topped it with queef quips. I’m so upset to have read this, but if elf butts and otter balls get your reading engines going then you’ll want to pick this book up. I’m sad to have this as my first read of the year but as the saying goes it can only be up from here. 🙃
