I can definitely see why this book is considered a classic! I did the audiobook and the narrator is honestly the reason I gave it that extra .25! Overall a great story but definitely not “action packed” as the book is primarily told as if the main character is sitting across from you telling you the story instead of you “living it” with her. Still entertaining and holds up after all these years!
I liked Mattie and Rooster a lot, but 75% of the book is about what they ate for dinner each night. The last 30 pages is very exciting and the ending was quite beautiful. A mixed bag and a quick read.
Having not seen either of the movies I thought it was an excellent book. It was well written and easy to read.
