A fun quick western. I really liked Mattie and it was nice to see a female protagonist in a western. I wasn’t a huge fan of the prose. It felt a little stilted at times. But it was a fun tale that was fun to read on a porch in the mountains.

This has been on my TBR for so long and I should have loved it. There is a plucky young heroine acting against the limits of her time and there was a revenge plot. I liked the beginning but then I felt somewhat bored with it. I think it might have been the writing and the perspectives of the side characters. I am glad to have read it though.
