Very cheesy, but read like a Hallmark movie (minus a few “scenes”) and I do love a Hallmark movie

Enjoyed this one, as well. Not as much funny/goofy banter as the first book, but still strong connections and small town camaraderie abound.

I'm such a sucker for the single parent trope! This book delivered on all of the best qualities of that from the amazing/protective dad, cute small family rituals, to the outrageously adorable child!
Clark has raised his son alone since literally the day of his birth. He is so worried about breaking his kid's heart if he tries to bring another person into their circle, so he doesn't let himself have serious relationships. He can't deny his growing feelings for Merry, however, who has hopes of someday taking over the tree farm from her father. They strike up a relationship-adjacent (you know, the trope where they meet online and don't know it's the person they've become closer to against their will?).
Without giving too much away, their relationship arc is one of my favorites. It was easy for me to relate to both sides, and the added element of navigating a new relationship around a kid made the whole thing more believable when they said their I love yous.
The cast of characters in this book was amazing. Not only do we get an amazing lead couple, but there is also Merry's family (who we meet and easily fall in love with in the first book in this series), Clark's brother who was hilarious, and of course his son, Jace, who's adorable beyond reason!
It was such a fun read. I was smiling so much throughout the whole thing!

This book was the perfect hallmark story with spice. This single dad was really doing it for me. Clark is back to working at the tree farm, where he worked there in his youth. Merry is also working on the tree farm, where she hopes to take over when her parents retire. They both have a crush on each other but they each don’t know about it. They both signed up for a dating app and matched, but they didn't know they matched with each other. I think this one was my favorite from the series. It definitely kept me entertained.

Spicy: 3

I mean it was just alright. 400+ pages and yet somehow, nothing and everything happened you know? Like so much was going on but at the same time, nothing happened. 400+ pages and yet I would say that 280+ of those pages were filler. Just yapping

I didn't like this one as much as the first. While there were definitely some cuteness factors to it with Jace and the puppy, there were some awkward parts, too. Mostly with Clark. I didn't love his character. He wasn't very romantic, and the parts that were supposed to be steamy were lackluster. It had a cute outcome, and I'm still gonna read book 3, but this isn't my favorite of the trilogy thus far.
