i'm still in my journey to find a really good reverse harem book, so here we are again.

this time i just love the fact that they aren't part of a gang or something like that. no guns, no deaths, just love and confusion. it's nice and they were all cute almost the entire book.

This one wasn't bad but I didn't love it either. I feel like especially with it being 5 guys and with them having history with each other that it needed to be longer. It felt very rushed and no reasoning for why emotions changed besided the fact that they got a taste for her and didn't want to stop. I needed more character building especially with it being friends-to-enemies-to-lovers.

*SPOILERS*
There are 5 brothers total. 2 are older and live in the city and 3 younger who still live next door to the fmc with their parents. Both sets if parents are leaving together for a trip and the fmcs mom doesn't want her staying at home alone due to recent break-ins in the neighborhood so she has arranged for her to stay next door with the guys.

Their history with each other is the 5 brothers and the fmc used to be close friends. But something changes and the fmc basically ghosts them all and stops all communication. The guys are all hurt and it kind of turns into a slight friends to enemies situation. When she moves into their house the first scene she walks into is the 3 guys with multiple other women. They basically tell her to stay out of their way. She leaves crying and hides in her room for the next several days. This is when it feels like a switch was turned because all of a sudden the 3 guys are magically no longer mad at her and start to pursue a friendship and a more sexual relationship with her. The 2 older brothers hear what's happening and come over to the house to also get with her.

It's then revealed that the only reason why she ghosted them was because one of the brothers had kissed her but she got scared because she wants all 5 brothers and didn't know what to do about that. She would rather have none of them if she couldn't have them all. They all don't understand why she didn't just come out and say that when they all want her and are fine sharing. However, she is afraid and wants to end this thing they all have going on when their parents get back from there trip. She is worried how it will work and what people will say. The conversation does not go well and all but 1 of the guys leaves. They are furious that she would leave them again after they have just got her back. The 1 brother that stayed tells her that she could choose one but she can't do that as she loves them all and would rather not have any of them. He thinks they will come back to her and to just give them some time. She ends up having this AHA moment where she doesn't care what anyone has to say or think about all of them being together.

It takes an immediate sharp turn when she wakes up mouth covered and pinned the bed from an intruder. She tries to find the one brother who was with her but he is tied up, beaten and held down by 2 men. When I got to this part I had totally forgotten about how homes were being broken into in the neighborhood. So I was taken aback by this. They try to rape her. She fights back and he ends up hitting her where shes now unconscious.

Meanwhile the other guys have come to their senses and have decided that they want her back so they conveniently go to the house during the same time shit is going down. They put a stop to it all, cops are called, the 4 guys are remorseful from leaving her. She just wants her mom called and to go home after the incident. She originally wanted to go home because of the comfort her own room and house would bring her but after a 2 weeks she finds that she is missing them. But she hasn't tried to contact them and they haven't tried to contact her. She decides she need to tell them how she feels so she sneaks out of the house to see them. They all have this moment of declaring there love for one another. It's kind of feels like a marriage ceramony because she goes to each guy individually and tells them why she loves them lol

Maybe it's because I've read so many why choose romances that I feel like I needed more from this! The reasoning felt silly for her to not talk to them and the transitions of them no longer being angry at her were too abrupt with no why given. The trauma of the intruders was mentioned that she has recurring nightmares but that was it. I just needed more.

Contemporary Reverse Harem Stand Alone Novel.

I wanted to give this more than three stars, wanted, but I could because of the way the story was rushed. If you are looking for a RH go ahead and read this. Things are rushed, yes, but there is enough of a back story to not make it infuriating. Be forewarned, the sex occurs pretty quickly and there is a lot of it. If you want to know specifically why three stars keep reading.

Spoilers ahead

So you have a group of five guys and one girl who were childhood friends until puberty hit her and she panicked at liking all five of her besties and ghosted on them. Did I mention they were her next door neighbor and the children or her mom's best friend. Yeah awkward.

Anyways, cue years of turmoil until the are conveniently forced to live in the same house for a month where the guys are utter asshole to her. Like unforgivable. As soon as one of them shows her any kindness it's like the sheer douchebaggery is completely forgotten. I'm sorry, youndont just forget that. There needs to be some sort of conversation and apology. To not have it makes the main character someone who just has zero selfwoth. So that was one star.

The other star was lost in the way the sequel relationship progressed. I get that they only had a month to cement the relationship but we have this only been kissed once virgin, (yes I know she was holding out for the guys) who is suddenly getting herself off while two guys watch and here themselves off, then two days later she let's their brother perform oral on the kitchen counter in a scene that feels a bit rapey and not at all loving after almost ever single page thus far in the book has included a line with her bemoaning the fact she can't like all of them. There is no natural development where her walls are broken down and things happen. It's just wham, bam, thank you man with no regrets or anxiety or anything the next day. Let's be honest, the way the character was written she should have fled that house in the middle of them night with the guys finding her camped ouf in her car somewhere and coaxing her home. The whole Mason and Tyler sex scene also felt a little rapey. Hey we showed up in your room unaccounted, uninvited, in the middle of the night. Start forcing ourselves on you, and when we find out you are a virgin have a threesome with you instead of being the loving protective Knights in shining armour we are being touted as and bang the ever living day it of you. A lot of RH authors do this. They have the characters have instant feelings or rush into a relationship or sex. Take the time to build the world and the relationship. Show them struggling with confusion and feelings in the days and hours after encounters. Have them ease into things like couple do. You get a better story for it and one where the reader isn't cringing or being drawn out of the story because they are reading it thinking wtf, the would never happen or that flies in the face of the character as otherwise described.

Not the best

This story really wasn't the best. Freya was immature and silly. Such a dumb reason for cutting the guys out. And the guys are all pushovers without unique personalities.

I liked it.

I don’t normally go for reverse harem but read this on a whim after seeing a review. I don’t understand the reviews that it was unrealistic. It’s fiction. Doubt it’s supposed to be realistic. I liked it. I think it was exactly what it was supposed to be and I plan on reading more from this author.

I liked this but there wasn’t enough character development. Freya and her boys were interesting but they lived next door and didn’t hash out for why she cooled it With them. I mean 5 years… and no talking it out? Fiction to the extreme.
