A very fun read. Funny, witty, inventive. It may be that I just finished something very intense, but it felt like a tiny bit of a letdown. If I'd read it at another time, I may have felt differently. But I'll definitely read a lot more Terry Pratchett.
My second step into the Discworld series.
While the first book I decided to read as my entry point was Mort, being initially intrigued more with its concept, I was highly recommended to read Guards! Guards! as well so I thought it would make for a good choice as the second book.
Like before, Pratchett's writing style drew me in once again with an excellent balance of humour combined with engaging world-building and characterisation that helped bring to life the city of Ankh-Morpork and its inhabitants. The book is an entertaining introduction to the Watch while also giving insight into the city's governing and more magical elements amidst its core story. While every character gets their time to shine, Carrot was an immediately charming character with his constant good-natured and lawful attitude being on full display throughout and frequently used for comedic purpose to further drive his likeability.
