Not sorry I read it but glad that this was an library loan and I didn't pay for it.

Too slow paced and repetitive. But interesting to have “fan fiction” of a classic written as a mystery. I like the idea of it.

Good read. Many characters to keep track of. Best read by those who are familiar with the characters of Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

This book was a fun, quick read. I don't have much patience for continuations of the Darcy story, but being this was P.D. James, I thought I'd give it a whirl. It surprised me she could write in Austen-style.
I liked Mr Darcy better when we didn't know his first name, and Elizabeth is barely included in this story. I might have to go read P&P again to get this out of my head.
I dare say most of the negative reviews stem from false marketing for this novel. Which is the publisher's fault, not the author's.
This is not a "thriller", and it is not a whodunnit. It is a hommage to Pride and Prejudice, with a crime at its center as a plot device. Is it written perfectly in Austen's style? Of course not, but that isn't the claim, and the prose is similar enough to be enjoyable for Austen fans. The only thing that is missing is Austen's amused and amusing look at the shenanigans between men and women and her witty remarks.
Read it as a "Where are they now?", and you'll be perfectly entertained.
