:-)

The Scotland Street series of books are like little hugs that you give to yourself when you want a 'palate cleanser' between books dealing with difficult tooics. Or when you want to immerse yourself in a world of quirky, loveable characters. They all have their faults and idiosyncrasies but I can't find much fault with a book that manages to make me smile frequently and laugh out loud occasionally.

Another great read from the Scotland street series. Bertie's dad actually stands up to his wife allowing Bertie to join the Cubs. The mystery over the cup is solved with a little mix up along the way, it goes to prove you should never assume. Lard even makes a bit of a return in this book, but I did miss Pat. Matthews story was a little far fetched but I still love this series, bring on the next one!

I love this series and 35 in the series doesn't disappoint. Bertie still struggles with "friends" Tofu and Olivia, as well as his controlling mother. He gets a new psychotherapist, who initially seems more understanding. McCall Smith, as always, includes many many details that are particular to Edinburgh and its people. These authentic portrayals are why I continue to read and enjoy this series!
The audiobook is charmingly read by Robert Ian MacKenzie.

Just so pleasant! This 44 Scotland Street had quite a few capers and scrapes for the cast of characters to face. I really love that Ian Rankin made an appearance! As always, a delightful break from reality.

I have grown slightly tired of this series of books, but there were still some laugh out moments in this volume. If I were to start the series with this book, I probably would not be very impressed, but for people who have read from the beginning, it is worth reading.

Well. Not as good as some of the previous entries in this series, but still quite an entertaining read. I'll still keep an eye for the next one though.
