I admit, part of the reason I picked this up was because of the title!
However, I was quickly sucked into the story - the narrator is good and the twist on standard urban faentasy was excellent!
This reminds me a bit of if someone heard the synopsis for Soulbound but the person telling them about Haily Turner's Soulbound was (like me) a bit scatterbrained about how it was explained. XD
Like Soulbound, this is more of an "urban fantasy, but the m/m romance is incidental (rather than the focus". The main character is a magic user with a difficult relationship with his family and an """interesting""" heritage. Unlike Soulbound, this series leans heavily into fae and fae mythology (whereas Souldbound leans more on gods, Greek and otherwise). Like Soulbound, the main character's father is suspect...
I devoured this in about a day, then immediately borrowed the second one [b:Trailer Park Trickster|56914971|Trailer Park Trickster (Adam Binder, #2)|David R. Slayton|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1623119279l/56914971._SY75_.jpg|89007152], then had a massive book hangover because the second book came out a few months ago, meaning we probably have around a year to wait for the third book. I want it now!!!

Re-read almost exactly a year later. Still good, but having read all (?) three books in the series, this first one's definitely the strongest.

Overall the book is quite enjoyable and has a unique take which is honestly harder to come by these days, however I do think it could have been fleshed out more. That being said this was the authors debut novel I believe so I will take that into consideration. At times the book could be all over the place and I found Adam’s family to be very unlikeable. I understand to some extent that much of it was manipulation but still, Robert and their mom just didn’t mesh with me. On the romance front I feel like the author could have built up Adam and Vic’s relationship. Seeing as this was set to be a multiple book series he could have carried it out to at least the 2nd book. I just didn’t really feel the connection between the two minus the very literal connection. Vic seemed more like an afterthought and duty to Adam than anything else, especially as Adam struggled throughout the book with his feelings for Silver. (Which is a whole other icky situation, why a thousands year old elf man was lusting and hooking up with a literal child and is never called out for it just astounding.) Adam should have been at least an adult before anything at all happened between them. I also feel as if the story would have benefited from starting from the beginning and not just telling it from bits and pieces of flashback and information. This book contained a lot of telling and not showing which is one of my least favourite ways to do so. While not perfect the series has potential.
Graphic: Child abuse, Confinement, Gore, Toxic relationship, Forced institutionalization, Blood, Medical content, Grief, Gaslighting
Moderate: Adult/minor relationship
Minor: Death, Infertility, Miscarriage, Death of parent
