Fantastic art, especially the scenic frames of both big city & rural Japan. Like an insect, the femme fatale mimics, manipulates, & kills for the sole sake of survival. An inverse of John Fowles’ The Collector.

I just realized that I had gotten this book and MW (another of Tezuka's more adult works) mixed up with each other. Both have lead characters that are serial killers that are well-versed in the art of seduction and mimicry.
I read this because I love Tezuka's Buddha series - 8 graphic novels telling the stories of the life of Buddha. I've read a few other works by him since and have been disappointed. This one is raunchy and thin. It has a bit of "Bonfire of the Vanities" to it and maybe some "Girls." The drawing style is great, but the story doesn't speak to me.

This sure isn't Astro Boy! In this book we see the whimsical style of Tezuka depict shocking amounts of sex and violence. Tezuka roars into the 1970's with a mature story about some frankly terrible people. It is harsh, uncompromising, weird, but excellently done. Not a book for children but great for grownup fans looking to experience the full range of Tezuka's talent.
