A solid young adult romantic fantasy about overcoming prejudices and reconciliation between oppressor and oppressed.
The political plot is quite simple, but there's good tension throughout the novel and especially between the main characters. The relationship dynamic between the leads is very good: there are conflicting desires, clashes between different personalities, and a lot of pent-up (and not so pent-up) longing.
An all-around decent read with no major flaws.

c’etait super! dommage que ça se termine sur ce moment, j’en attendais un peu plus mais je suppose que ça va se passer dans le tome 2!
The beginning was a little hard to get through but midway through the book was when things really started to get interesting. I overall enjoyed it but my one problem with it is that with some of the characters (Kinok), who were perceived as cunning not always consistently living up to that trait. Specifically when he was questioning Ayla about her heritage. Ayla quiet literally told him the names of her grandparents when he asked about. He already had the names “Siena” and “Leo” written down, which was revealed at the end of the book. What I don’t understand is how after Ayla told him that the names of her grandparents are in fact “Siena” and “Leo” he didn’t even put two and two together. I know this is kinda a petty thing to be annoyed about, and maybe it will be expanded on more in the second book, but honestly it just irked me.
(2.5)
carino ma non mi ha convinto moltissimo, la dinamica fra le due protagoniste e la trama in sé non mi ha coinvolto quanto speravo e mi dispiace molto.

Mystery, royalty, fantasy, girls loving girls.
This book is an absolute must read. I was recommending it before I even finished it. The world is fleshed out and the history is easy to follow. Crier’s journey of self discovery and Ayla’s desire for revenge both weave together in unexpected and beautiful ways.
Actual enemies to lovers.
This book kept me guessing and never drug on and on. The world building was never info dumped and the “excerpts” from texts within the world expanded the readings view of the story.
Absolute must read if you’re looking for a wlw fantasy book.

Wow! The Automae world is both beautiful and slightly terrifying. Lady Crier is a very interesting main character. She's Made, meaning she's not human but a type of Android that has human qualities such as reasoning and so on. All Automae have the better qualities of humans but they're stronger and more beautiful. Ayla is such a passionate and strong character. Both girls are so full of doubt and conflicting emotions but it's such a relief seeing characters who question everything they were so sure about at the beginning. Both their worlds begin to crumble the night Ayla saves Crier from falling into the ocean. There's so much intrigue, political backstabbing and blackmail! Also that adorable slow burn romance! I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment!!!❤️
