I am pretty well versed in the serial killer genre, so I have high expectations. When you read authors like Chris Carter, it is really hard to find a serial killer book that can wow you the way that his books do.

With that being said this book wasn’t bad by any means it just was not up to my standards. Did I enjoy my time while listening to it? Yes. Did I also get bored at times? also yes.

Book #124 read in 2025

The very beginning of the book was a podcast episode where a viewer calls in to Nola's show, thinking someone is in her house. From that moment, I could not put this down. I was more than a little creeped out. Especially when the creeper the caller saw was the same one Nola had encountered as a child.

Woolsoncroft delivered a perfect blend of horror and suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat and made me look out the windows in the dark. After the nonstop action, the ending was a little lackluster. That being said, I can't wait to see what this author comes up with next!

Thank you to the publisher for the review copy. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. This novel was published on July 8, 2025.

I loved this book, but the ending disappointed me. I was tense most of it, wanting to know who was it, and why they were doing what they were, but it was so random that I had to lower to 4*. Overall it was a great thriller.

EXCELLENT debut novel. Looking forward to seeing more from this author! I like how you couldn’t guess who the killer was until the big reveal.
