The first book was better. This book dragged on, I finished it because I wanted to know what happened, but it was pretty obvious how it would end. The third book has worse reviews than this one so I don't think I'll be picking it up anytime soon.

You get so invested in Saint and figuring out what’s going on between him and Fable that when Isolde’s mysterious past rocks up into the plot you’re left trying to find your sea legs. It is interesting. There’s action and angst and adventures. There’s also a lot of twists for the sake of twists. And there were several times I was asking myself how 7 people could be so dumb. Someone figure it out please! It’s the name of the book… and not a single person makes the connection. Help.
It kept my interest but it’s not going into the reread pile. I cared more about what would happen with all the characters’ relationships since the plot was just pulling us along for the sake of a caper. The big conclusion was more fun than I expected while still being totally cliché. Basically, most of the book didn’t need to happen if people read the maps more carefully. But ahhhh, pirate family drama.
This book is good for when you want the atmosphere but don’t have the energy for a complex read.

extreme daddy issues in this series ngl and mummy issues
Unfortunately I didn't like this one as much as the first book. I've enjoyed Young's descriptions of the sea, diving, and epic action the most, but there was a lot less of that in this book.
The first half was a lot of Fable being angry and impotent which wasn't much fun. And you could see some of the twists a little too well so Fable walking into them was frustrating. Things picked up a little bit in the second half but i felt like the ending didn't answer all the questions well and was kind of abrupt.
Overall while this was still an engaging read, it was also disappointing.

وقتی برش داشتم، هیچ خبر نداشتم که جلد دوم فابله. کتابی که نشر مجازی ترجمه کرده، اشاره‌ای به این موضوع نکرده؛ نه توی جلد و نه تو شناسنامه. لااقل من که ندیدم.
یه جاهایی از داستان رو خوب درک نکردم و چون جلد اول رو نخونده بودم، هیچ‌کدوم از شخصیت‌ها هم اون‌طور که باید و شاید برام دوست‌داشتنی و ملموس نبودن. با خود فابل که فکر کنم کم‌تر از همه تونستم ارتباط برقرار کنم.
ولی خب، اون‌طور که انتظار داشتم ازش متنفر نشدم. تعلیق خوبی هم داشت.

It was alright but it could’ve been better, the first book was good and was better off as a stand-alone.
It was a little harder to connect to the characters in this sequel, and it felt like it left the story a little unfinished. But the atmosphere was still absolutely stunning.
