This was a feel good cute rom-com book with some good spice to it as well! I've been reading too much dark mafia romance so this was a really nice and much needed break from that. I loved all the back and forth banter and flirting that was in this book between Milo and Veronica. It was light and I think the author did an incredible job writing about a book that wasn't super corny when the trope had to do with the mfc being a virgin. I'm not going to dive into the rest of the books for this series right now but I could definitely see myself coming back to them at a later date.

The Virgin Next Door is book 1 of the Dating Games by Lauren Blakely. It is a standalone rom-com, told from both points of view with a happy ending.

Tropes:
✔️ Workplace
✔️ Virgin with a naughty side
✔️ Big city
✔️ Adorable pets
Veronica Valentine loves her children’s editing job, but she moonlights as anonymous sexy column known as The Virgin Club. But after she accidentally sends a sensual article about “Mr. Sexy Pants” to a very conservative client, she’s in a heap of trouble and in need of a new job.
Luckily for her she quickly finds a temporary job working at Milo Dawson’s Bikes and Blooms (half bicycle, half flower) shop. The not so great news is that Milo is the one and only “Mr. Sexy Pants.” Can they maintain a professional relationship or will their attraction be too much?
Both Veronica and Milo are incredible characters. Veronica is smart, fun and sexually positive. Milo is more than up to the task to help her tick off her sexy fantasy list.
I love Lauren Blakely’s books, they’re fun, flirty and always leave me with a huge smile on my face. With witty banter and explosive chemistry, The Virgin Next Door is a wonderful addition to Lauren’s catalogue.

Great banter goes a long way
Is a book without banter even worth reading? This had banter by the truck load and I was cackling the whole way through it. However there were a couple of things that irked me a little. (I'm not sure if it's issues with the book or just me being persnickety but let's get into it) First of all, the title. She signs her column, Your Friendly Neighbourhood Virgin and she does live near him but she doesn't live next door, maybe in the concept of New York if you live on the same block that counts as next door but for my country bumpkin behind that is not the case. Second, there's the whole virgin thing. I like that even though she's never had it, she's not naive about sex. But Milo and Veronica don't really talk about that with each other at any point so it all feels a little gimmicky for the sake of her column. (I get that it's a social construct and all that but it's at least worth a conversation) Then there's the sex scenes themselves, which felt really rushed every time. It seemed like there was a lot of talking about it but we kinda glossed over the act of it. For a story that talks about sex so much I was disappointed in the lack of it in here. And finally the ex. She comes back to threaten Milo with a lawsuit, thus triggering Veronica to break up with him so he can focus on his shop. But then we hear nothing from her again. No conclusion to her bullshit lawsuit, no reason for her to pop back up in his life at all other than it being the catalyst for the 3rd act break up, which honestly is kinda lazy writing. Even through all of my pickiness I still enjoyed this.
