Didn’t like the premise- a virgin who loves sex but is still somehow a virgin. Seemed unbelievable
2.75/5 Stars
2.5/5 Spice
4.25/5 Narration
The narration was well done. It is dual, and both narrators do a great job at narrating the opposite sex!
This had potential but overall was a miss for me.
Here is what I enjoyed...
The overall plot. Vanessa is a children's books editor that writes a sex column as a side hustle. Sex and the City, from the POV of a virgin. She accidentally sends her column to her day job...whoops. She then starts a job working at a floral shop. Little does she know her new boss is her crush she writes about in her column.
I loved Vanessa's confidence. She may be a virgin, but she knows what she wants. I enjoyed how great she was at coming up fun marketing ideas for the floral shop and how everyone starts coming to her for recommendations for everything! I am a dog person, so I loved how much their pets were featured in the story! I adored the chapter from the cat's POV. That was amusing.
What ruined it for me was the dialog. I just do not believe that adults in their upper 20's talk like this. It was just cringy. On top of that, a large amount comedy felt forced, like it was trying way too hard to be quirky. It was just so distracting. I was hoping Lauren Blakely would have similar vibes to Meghan Quinn, but I think maybe her writing it not for me.

Pros: it was easy to read (although the writing style was veeeeery wattpad-y)
Cons: so much sex. I don't think there was a chapter that didn't involve it or at least make explicit mention of it. I really don't know what I was expecting given the title but oh my god.

This book was such a pleasant surprise! I didn't have any expectation going in, but I loved how the virgin character was still sexual/sex-positive and not some virginal chaste person. And the conflicts felt natural and not too drawn out or overdone. Liked their sweet banter and the endearing ending. Also, the workplace romance is actually unique and not a typical "big business man" and "little assistant" or something. In general it felt like they broke a lot of the stereotypes of these types of tropes in a good way!
Meh. It was a cute story, but it was kind of predictable and on-the-surface, with no real depth. The characters themselves seemed to exist solely for the purpose of this book, with all the details of their lives significant only as to how they effected the story. Naturally, this made them kind of one-dimensional, and created a bit of an emotional disconnect for me, not only to the characters, but to the story itself. (Except the part where the heroine allowed her vile ex-coworker to humiliate her in a prospective job interview, doing nothing to defend herself or expose his violation of an NDA order he signed. That caused some emotion. Angry ones! At the heroine, for being a doormat. AND at the author, for writing her that way!)
I didn't hate it, but I don't think I'll remember anything about it by the time the next book in the series comes out.

It's hard to turn away from a book with a character called, "Mr. Sexy Pants."
A quick, and rather forgettable insta-love story. Neither main character really stood out in any way. It was kind of a hipster meet cute. She wore quirky skirts. He owned a bike and flower shop.
My favorite thing about this book was just how kinky the 'virgin' in the story was. It was kind of an ode to romance girlies who learn what they like prior to hooking up with dudes. She knew what she enjoyed in bed. Unlike most modern women, her first sexual experience was an actual banger. A hero for future generations.
