beautifully done. i picked this out randomly at the library because the cover looked familiar, and i realized that it was because ocean vuong had endorsed it once. (his endorsement is actually on the cover!) it's undeniably prose, but it's also, in the same beat, a rich hybrid body of work that is also equal parts poetry, epistolary, history, journalism, and textual collage. it took me a couple of months to digest it, and i'd mostly read it before going to sleep, so that half-dazed and lucid feeling from the text was resonant with me in a special way that was further enhanced by my state. gotta procure a hardcover copy of this at some point. above all else, it's a startling, uncanny portrait of the mundane observations, objects, and fears accrued through a person's daily life.
Felt like doomscrolling in someone else’s brain, which was weirdly cathartic and reassuring. Mix of daily life and thoughts about the world ending - terribly relatable right now.

This is basically a memoir style read, like a journal entry or a letter. I overall enjoyed reading this, but you don’t learn about the characters like you typically would in a story, it just reads more fluidly.

One of those books that is just a bunch of brilliant chunks of prose and wisdom. Don't read it for plot (there isn't much) read it for style ! Really enjoyed.
I just didn’t get this book. I’m sure it’s me. Luckily it was short and beautifully written but too choppy for me to be able to remember anything about it or want to get back to the ‘story.’

Jenny Offill continues to be one of my favorite authors. Weather is a quick read but not an easy one. I couldn’t read it in one sitting because the sense of the walls closing in around the main character was too palpable. Although it was a bit too real at times to read about a woman’s caretaking role in the face of a potential apocalypse, the ending made me feel so hopeful. Weather is definitely a book that will continue to be rewording each time it’s read.
