A slice of modern urban life with the twin fixations of Global Warming and the coming of the Trump era. There is no plot but instead the thoughts of a young mother, sister, wife, daughter and her job at a university library that allows her the time to read up any idea she comes across. A look at the anxiety that exists in today’s society regarding the danger to our natural world from decades of unregulated industry and to our political system from increasingly violent and unhinged players. Weather also shows how we find ways both productive and not to distract ourselves from continual worry.

Decently written. There's no clear narrative and the interjection of current events without any sort of going a little deeper. Makes the whole book a bit meh.

It feels like an unfinished character study.

Very fragmented & stream-of-consciousness, but also a fun exploration into what it means to be human in preparation for the end times.

In the first class I ever took with Sylvia, she told us about assortative mating. Meaning like with like -- depressive with depressive. The problem with assortative mating, she said, is that it feels perfectly correct when you do it. Like a key fitting into a lock and opening a door. he question being: Is this really the room you want to spend your life in?

"And then it is another day and another and another, but I will not go on about this because no doubt you too have experienced time."

"A time is coming when men will go mad, and when they see someone who is not mad, they still attack him, saying, 'You are mad, you are not like us.'"
