I was more than a little disappointed by how Anglo-American centric the history of the home apparently is, but it's still a Bill Bryson book.
This book was a recommendation from a co-worker, and at a point, I wondered why I was listening to it. THEN, I couldn't stop! I wanted to know about the other rooms. ;). I will definitely listen to more of Bill Bryson.

So full of interesting tidbits. I feel like I need to read it again and take notes!

This was an interesting read with a lot of fun facts, but the topics wandered immensely (we somehow landed on vermin for “the study”?) which made the book feel chaotic, at times mundane, and really NOT what the synopsis claimed to discuss. Still full of Bryson’s quick wit & clever humor!
Not too bad - not as funny as some of Bryson's other stuff but an interesting look at many things we take for granted around the house.
I love BB style of starting in a room and wandering by all of history

This is rather hit and miss for Bryson, with only parts of some chapters truly interesting. The chapters that stuck out for me was the dressing room and bathroom chapters, but everything else felt like overstretching the theme.
I have to say though, as someone from Liverpool it is always fascinating when our history comes up as part of a bigger piece, but that wasn't enough to save the book for me.
