A very interesting story told from a very isolated point of view. Many different topics are dealt with (racism, fraud, possible rape, morality, social media, bullying, mental health, publishing industry). While it is not entirely clear what the focus is or what message the author (mainly) wanted to convey, the publishing industry and its flaws are a focal point. In any case, very exciting right to the end and worth reading. Certainly makes you think.

Yellowface is a challenging book that discusses topics such as racism, relationships and stealing others stories. I found this book very thought provoking, I often had to shut the book and process everything I just read. If you like to read books with a pleasant protagonist, don’t read this. Very excited to read R.F Kuang’s other books! She’s a brilliant author.

an absolute page turner. one of those books where it’s so easy to hate the main character (who is despicableeee) but you cant turn away from seeing how far theyll take it, whittling away their actions with self assured rationalizations.

i found myself having to stand up and pace around the living room venting to my partner about the audacity the main character had. tbh, it’s a good read if you need to let out steam. it’s written with undertones of poignant insights and pokes at the prejudice blind spots people have when they aren’t willing to better themselves and instead virtue signal how good of a person they are.
