maybe I had too many expectations, but I sadly didnt like it as much as I wanted to. It took me some time to get in to the book. I guessed the plot twist half way through and I wouldn't consider this a memorable book. It did have a slow start but it picked up a bit later.

I am a huge fan of Jane Eyre. There were certainly parallels, but I had to let that thought go to enjoy it and keep this book separate instead of being irritated about characterization. Once I did that, I thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns.

Thrilling! The second book I've read by Rachel Hawkins and she really knows how to write interesting characters and solid suspense.
A modern Gothic retelling, filled with fun references and constant refreshing surprises.

Eh this was ok. Kind of boring and nothing really happens for most of the book. I love that there are multiple characters’ view points portrayed in the story but ultimately I was hoping for more excitement and a bigger twist at the end. I did love the fact that the female MC wasn’t an idiot but actually a con woman who got wrapped up with the wrong rich guy.

Sooo good! Kept me interested. Loved

I did struggle to pick this book back up once I had put it down because everything seemed so predictable and I really questioned a lot of Jane’s choices throughout.

It was okay, but nothing special! I wouldn’t re-read or recommend it to anyone.
