This book sure was interesting. Very slow, took me way too long to read. But it’s such a good story. Damianos and Laurent made a loooooot of progress. I can’t wait for the last one.

Перечитала. От чого у пані Пакат не відняти, так це розриваючі авдиторію останні рядки книги. Яку не візьми. ~
Все ще направляю Лорану всю мою фангьорлінгову любов.

I’m glad I stuck it out in the first book to continue the trilogy.
Book 2 lets the series themes and political intrigue shine more than the first. I really liked how Damen and Laurent’s relationship progressed in this—becoming more mutually respectful of each other despite the circumstances and forming a tentative friendship—and possibly something more (which is the reason why we’re all here lol).
Not gonna lie, I didn’t care much for Aimeric. I get that he and Jord are meant to be a parallel to Laurent and Damen but I just didn’t have any feelings towards him. I felt a bit of sympathy for him knowing that he was a victim of The Regent’s abuse. Such cases are unfortunately not uncommon in the real world :(
I was a bit shocked he turned out to be the traitor though.
The beginning of the book started a bit slow and then real life commitments got in the way. I wasn’t sure how long it would take me to finish after that, but once I got back to reading I finished it in a day. So I’m hoping book 3 will be just as good.

Loved it. Loved, loved, loved it.
Oh, you need more than just that to explain my feelings?
Words cannot describe what I felt while reading this book. I loved how the characters grew and changed in new ways. I loved Damen's loyalty and I loved the twists and turns of Laurent's mind.
I thought I figured out everything by the end of the book but then Pacat threw in one little twist I didn't see coming and I had to start the chapter over just to make sure I understood every bit of the development it took to get the book to that point. It was boggling to my brain and wonderful to read.
This is what good writing by a talented author looks like. That is all.
