I really enjoyed this book, definitely felt a little cheesy and rushed but I liked it. Wish there was more fleshing out of characters and abilities. I also never read a fantasy book with a lot of modernity like cell phones and the internet which felt cheesy but I guess I liked it lol

This would’ve been a five star read had it not been dragging at the beginning. I considered to DNF it but decided to read until the main plot of the story happened, when she’s imprisoned in the realm for criminals and meets the Umbra King. Finally the pace picked up and I couldn’t put the book down! The MMC is the perfect tortured, foul mouth shadow daddy! They are enemies to lovers, but can’t resist each other since they are fated mates! Other tropes: forced close proximity, touch her and die, one bed & who did this to you? Very explicit and good amount of spicy scenes. The ending is just unexpected and will have you rooting for them and opening the second book in an instant. Available in KU.
