Surprised to see all these high ratings. This book just really didn't do it for me. Tbh I was NOT a fan of Captain Mackenzie and I felt like Maddie could have been fleshed out a little more.

I have no way to explain why I read this but I did and I surprisingly enjoyed it, even though this book really isn't for me. Not sure I'm ever going to read a romance novel again, however, it was an interesting foray into the genre.

I will say the premise of this book made me laugh out loud and I particularly enjoyed the prologue and Maddie's first meeting with Logan. I don't think I've laughed quite so much at a books' opening in quite some time. Although, I will be 'verra verra' happy if I never read the word 'verra' ever again...

Earlier today I was on insta minding my own business and a girl recomending this book showed up on my reels.
I always read at least one hystorical novel in january and this one seemed fun enough. Well, fun it was.
I've never laughed this much with a book before. Maddie was comedy gold.
The romance was mice, it developed steadily. Fast! But steady lol
The side characters were very likable too. I would give it 5 stars but sadly Malcolm fell a little short to my liking sometimes. Justifiably so, but still.

Now I should be back to my actual tbr lol I regret nothing tho, this was a short fun read.
